Footage shows a super-strong wasp carrying a spider carcass 10 times its size.

The video was taken by insect enthusiast Alonso Quesada in Cartago, Costa Rica in one of his morning walks.

He said: "I knew wasps are strong, but it is still amazing to see how much power they have in those small bodies."

The insect in the video is a spider wasp, from the Pompilidae, which prey on spiders by paralysing them then dragging them away.

Since Costa Rica is in the tropics, its insect life is diverse with thousands of species.
