Giant Sphinx Moth named Silly Straw has a strange curly proboscis
One of my giant Sphinx Moths that I raised from Hornworms (Tomato Worms) emerged from her chrysalis with a very strange proboscis, that appeared to be split down the middle, and curled backwards. These moths, like butterflies, use their proboscis to drink the nectar from flowers, so having a ruined proboscis meant that this moth was unable to eat. As a result, she only lived for about a week, but in that time she managed to mate with a male, and left me quite a few eggs. I'm unsure what caused this to happen, but it was very interesting to observe. Aside from her strange proboscis, she appeared to have no other deformities. I decided to name this moth Silly Straw for obvious reasons.
