A Caravan of Militarized Police Drives into Downtown Minneapolis After Curfew

Ten minutes after a citywide curfew took effect on Thursday, August 27, a caravan of police drove northeast along Nicollet Avenue into downtown Minneapolis in unmarked pickup trucks, an SUV, a small bus, and a Hennepin County Sheriff's vehicle. It is unclear to which departments the occupants belong. The previous night Minneapolis Police, Minneapolis Park Police, Hennepin County Sheriffs, and National Guard members could be seen. Riots broke out in Minneapolis on Wednesday, August 26th after a man shot and killed himself downtown. Soon after looting began downtown a curfew was put in place and the National Guard was called in. The curfew continued on Thursday night.
