Drivers battled through flooded roads this morning (August 31) following heavy rain in Bangkok, Thailand.

The rainy season monsoon downpours in the early hours of the morning swamped roads causing flash floods in parts of the city.

Footage shows how drivers and motorcycle riders in the Monday morning rush hour traffic had to crawl through the deluge which made the narrow streets resemble a river.

Passenger, Yanisa, said: ''There was big rain last night and this morning and the water could not drain away. In my car it came up to half of the wheel but in other roads it was deeper than this. This happens every time there's a big rain storm.''

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines are at the height of their annual rainy season, which often sees torrential downpours and flash floods.
