This is the bizarre moment a man staged a fake motorcycle accident to surprise his girlfriend with a wedding proposal.

JB Avenido Roche set up a hidden camera on a parked motorbike nearby in Davao del Sur, the Philippines before pouring synthetic blood on his shirt and the pavement on July 15.

He asked one of his colleagues to call his girlfriend Mary Rose Gabuni to to rush to the scene where ''something terrible had happened '' and she arrived a few minutes later.

Colleagues told the devastated woman that her boyfriend had an accident while delivering food to a customer.

The frantic girlfriend was shocked after seeing her boyfriend drenched in blood beside his motorcycle. JB remained dead still as she gently tried to rouse him.

Mary Rose sat beside her boyfriend and was nearly bursting in tears when JB slowly sat up and produced a small box with a ring inside before asking the question.

He asked his confused girlfriend if she would marry him and she said yes before his colleagues shouted and cheered in happiness.

JB said: "I had been meaning to ask her for a long time now so I wanted it to be memorable. I'm delighted she said yes. She saw the funny side of my proposal, too. We're both happier than we ever have been.''

The couple of five years decided they will hold their wedding next year.
