High tide waves swept away vehicles on a road after crashing over a bank in eastern China.

The video, filmed in the city of Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province on September 20, shows huge waves brought by a tidal bore splashing onto a road next to a river and pushing back numerous vehicles.

No casualties were reported and the case is being investigated, reports said.

Tidal bores are caused by tides passing into narrow inlets or waterways, forming waves much higher than usual. Qiantang River tidal bores are considered to be the largest of their kind in the world.
