A rare bearded vulture was spotted by birdwatchers circling the skies over Lincolnshire, east England, on October 8.

Footage filmed by Phill Hicks shows the bird, also known as a lammergeier, circling around the countryside before landing on a tree in Cowbit.

According to the BBC, around 200 birdwatchers made the journey to the Lincolnshire Fens to catch sight of the rare raptor.

The bearded vulture is normally found in Alpine regions and has a wingspan of 2.5 metres (8.2 feet).

International Union for Conservation of Nature lists the species as "near threatened" on their Red List.
