A helmet saved a biker's life after a water pipe fell from a building onto his head in southern China.

The terrifying moment, filmed in the city of Ganzhou in Jiangxi Province on October 22, shows a water pipe suddenly falling down from a residential building and striking a scooter driver's head as he happened to drive past.

The biker then got off his scooter and rested on the side of the road.

He reportedly called the police and drove away.

According to reports, the water pipe was dropping from the fifth-floor balcony and was being used to hang clothes.

Since it was ageing, it dropped down. The flat owner was blamed for the incident.

Thanks to the helmet, the biker's head was not injured.

10月22日上午，一位市民就在江西赣州于都的乐都小区附近，经历了惊险的一幕。路边商家的公共视频拍下了整个过程。视频显示，一根类似水管的东西突然从天而降，砸中了骑着电动自行车路过的一位市民。幸运的是，因为这位市民戴了安全头盔，所以头部并未受伤。但男子揉着肩膀，面露痛苦之色。
事后男子自行离开后报警。
调查发现，水管是6楼住户晾晒衣服用的，因为年久老化发生掉落，负该事故全责。事后一想也真是后怕，要是这位市民没有佩戴安全头盔，那后果可就不堪设想了。（视频由江西台提供）
