Residents are evacuated into a Buddhist temple converted into a temporary shelter as Typhoon Molave reaches central Vietnam today (October 28).

Buddhist monk Hanh Hoan Hy recorded the footage of the evacuees and damaged part of the temple in Quang Ngai province.

Molave is currently forecast to strengthen into a Category 2 and according to the Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System (GDACS) will sustain winds of up to 185kph (115mph) just before landfall, making it the equivalent of a Category 3.

The Vietnamese government is preparing for the evacuation of up to 1.3 million people in the country's central regions, which are already experiencing widespread flooding for the past 3 weeks.

Officials said that at least nine people have been killed in the Philippines by the typhoon while more than 900,000 residents have been affected mostly in the Southern Tagalog region where, typhoon Molave, or Quinta as it is also known, made landfall.

Typhoon Molave is then expected to move into Cambodia and Thailand towards the end of the week.
