A heartwarming video has emerged of a young driver receiving details of a surprise trip to New York City from a police officer after being pulled over for a fictional driving offence.

The unusual stunt was sprung on 15-year-old Sydney while she was driving around her hometown of West Chester Township, Ohio, US with her parents earlier this month.

In the footage, which was captured on a cellphone by her mother, Sydney can be seen trying to stay calm after she is pulled to the side of the road by a police officer who informs her she has “a tint violation” on her car because her windows are too dark.

After checking her license, the police officer hands a ‘driving ticket’ to Sydney which she reads carefully before bursting into tears when she realises it’s actually a ticket to New York.

"My entire life, my dream has been to go to New York City. My parents decided to team up with the West Chester Police Department to help surprise me with tickets to NYC" Sydney later wrote online.

“I just recently got my license permit, and as I was driving around with my parents I was pulled over. The police officer told me that he had to issue me a ticket, and had me sign a piece of paper to say that I agreed that I received this ticket. When he held out the paper for me to sign, it said "You are going to New York!"”
