Silver coins, presumably belonging to the Mughal era in India, were unearthed from a field in central India's Madhya Pradesh on November 16. The incident took place in Saikheda village of Gadarwara in Narsinghpur.

A video shot on November 17 shows two silver coins placed on an open palm. The coins can be seen engraved with Arabic inscriptions.

According to the region's archaeologist Dr Ajay Jaiswal, the over 10-gram-heavy coins could be from Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb's period of rule.

As soon as news broke of the antique coins being found near a construction site, villagers flocked to gather more of such currency. At least 30 similar coins were hoarded by locals before administration or the police could be informed. Coins of similar nature are still being unearthed from the spot.

As soon as Village Head Jitendra Singh alerted the authorities, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate RS Rajput, along with the Revenue Department officials reached the spot and began investigating the case.
