An investigation has been launched after police in Paris forcibly removed migrants from a makeshift camp at Place de la Republique in the city centre.

Footage from November 24 shows the response from migrants and activists after police dismantled the camp.

According to local reports, police used tear gas and batons to disperse the crowd.

Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin has set up an investigation into the conduct of officers, which will be done by IGPN, the police’s internal disciplinary body.
