Residents of Cañada Real, a shanty town in the Madrid region of Spain, held a protest outside the regional government offices on Thursday (December 3) against an ongoing power outage.

Residents of the Sector 6 of Cañada Real have been without electricity for more than two months.

Footage shows a large crowd of protesters on Puerta del Sol square in the capital chanting and holding signs reading, "Light is a right" and "Children without light for months."

The cause of the power outage is unclear, but local authorities say that the indoor marijuana farms they have found can cause the electricity grid to overload.
