Four bears were rescued from horrid and cramped conditions at an illegal bile farm in Vietnam's Binh Duong province on November 26.

Footage shows the animals in cages being rescued by the provincial Forest Protection Department as part of the World Animal Protection's microchipping programme.

The bears were subsequently transported to the Four Paws rescue centre in Ninh Binh further north in the country.

Although bear bile extraction is prohibited in Vietnam, some still operate illegally, and as the extraction is fast and confidential, it is difficult for authorities to detect it.

The bears are often poorly cared for, starved, and given no veterinary care.

In November 2020, four bears were rescued from the cruel bear bile industry in Vietnam, as a result of World Animal Protections microchipping and monitoring program. The bears were rescued from the Binh Duong province in South Vietnam.
