India successfully conducted the first army version test of the Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM) from eastern India's Odisha on December 23. The missile was launched off the Chandipur coast in the Baleswar district.

Visuals witnessing the launch feature a countdown following which, the missile rockets into the sky. The entire site gets engulfed in dense clouds of gray smoke as the missile soars into the sky.

Jointly developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Israel Aerospace Industries, the missile has a strike range of nearly 100 km (62.137 miles), and intercepted a manoeuvring air-breathing target that mimicked an attacking combat aircraft.

The missile has been developed to neutralise airborne threats like jets, missiles and rockets, including projectiles launched simultaneously. It was successfully launched and met all mission parameters.
