Otter spotted fishing in Bedford floodwaters as Storm Bella hits

A couple out for a Boxing Day (December 26) walk in Bedford in the UK were amazed to spot an otter swimming through the floodwaters close to the bust banks of the River Ouse.

Footage shows the animal swimming above a submerged footpath before stopping on a log to eat a fish.

"I walk past the river every day but I've never seen an otter," said filmer Nathan Hayward.

"Seems strange that this happened at the same time as the river overflowing but it was nice to see the otter feeding too," he added.

Water levels have passed their peak in Bedford but a severe flood warning remains in place, according to officials.
