Desperate survivors of a powerful, deadly earthquake on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi were today (January 16) picking through the rubble of collapsed homes and businesses amid a shortage of food and a lack of shelter.

Footage showed resident of Mamuju attempting to salvage items from the rubble of a home and a mini-market.

The 6.2-magnitude quake struck on Friday (January 15) morning, killing at least 42 people and injuring hundreds.

The residents tried to clean up the rubble of the house and looked for the remaining items that could still be used.
