Adult Black Bear Crosses Bridge

The Black Bear crossing a bridge video: I filmed this video on September 21, 2020 at 2:34pm. The location is Garibaldi Lake, Garibaldi Provincial Park, in Squamish, British Columbia, Canada. I had set out on a solo hike on the Panorama Ridge trail. On my way up, I had encountered an adult black bear about 75 yards from the trail, but i kept my distance and continued. On my return leg, I was in the lookout for the same bear or others. Just before I got to the lake, a couple hiking the opposite direction alerted me there might be a bear in the area. I made noice and continued to the lake, over a foot bridge and continued along the lake. Immediately after crossing the bridge a middle aged couple coming from the opposite direction started screaming, turned around and took off. I spun around and saw the black bear as it was moving from the edge of lake and toward the bridge. I took out my iPhone and started filming, wondering if it would cross the bridge. And it did. Halfway across the bridge the bear looked directly at me. I didn’t run as there was about 50 yards between us, and most likely it wanted to get out of the area. I’ve had multiple black bear encounters when hiking in the British Columbia vast back country, so I have come to know some of the behaviours of black bears, especially when they encounter humans. It was unnerving though. The video is unedited and I have the original.
