Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Scientist turns old car into backhoe in Southern India’s Kerala

Scientist Jacob has turned his old car into a backhoe during the lockdown period in just 2 months in Thiruvananthapuram.

The inventor of the car backhoe is a scientist at Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) named Jacob of Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC).

Homemade backhoe by the inventor had a lifting capacity of 500 kilograms (1102 lbs), 14-foot-long horizontal and vertical reach with about six tonnes of digging capacity.

The inventor Ben Jacob decided to make the backhoe during the COVID-19 lockdown in India with the old car that he had purchased for his wife to learn driving few years ago.

Cost of turning an old car into a backhoe was Rs 70000 ( USD 958 ) stated Scientist Jacob who invented the less cost excavator using an old car.

Usually an excavator costs around Rs 20 Lakhs ( USD 27378 ) this is low cost excavator designed which can be used in farmlands and to dig ponds.
