Emergency services attend the scene of a gas explosion in Queretaro, central Mexico, on Sunday morning (January 24).

The blast injured ten people – three seriously – and damaged 56 homes in the town of El Marques.

Fire crews said that a 13-year-old child and two adults, believed to be the parents, were seriously injured. It happened in the Los Encinos district at around 9am local time.

The emergency services that arrived at the scene requested air support to transport the injured child, who had suffered burns across his body.

Local media reported that the blast came from a leak in a tank that contained 120 kilos of LP gas.

Neighbours said that windows, cars and doors shook as people screamed and ran outside in panic.
