This was the moment a brave shopkeeper in central India fought off armed men with only his bare hands despite bleeding from gunshot injuries.

Four masked men entered Shri Sati Jewelers at Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, on January 25 and tried to rob it. They were fiercely resisted by the shop owner Alok Soni, 26, who took on them despite being unarmed.

CCTV footage from the shop shows the robbers shooting at him five times. A few bullets shatter glass, while some hit Soni in his hand.

However Soni continued to grapple with the robbers, who lost their nerve and fled. Superintendent of Police Prashant Agarwal visited the shop and ordered an investigation to find the robbers.

Soni, who was injured on both hands and bleeding profusely, was taken to a hospital where he is recovering.

Eyewitnesses said six men had come on two motorcycles, While four went to rob the shop, two accomplices waited near the vehicles on which they got away.
