STORYLINE:

Social movements met this Saturday in the Basilica of Luján, in a meeting to pray for Pope Francis, eight years after the beginning of his pontificate.

"We popular movements pray for him," says the convocation of the organizations.

The meeting was held outdoors due to restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A few days after assuring that he will visit Argentina "when the opportunity arises", Pope Francis turns 8 years old this Saturday, March 13, as the maximum reference of the Catholic Church.

In 2013, after the resignation of Benedict XVI from the pontificate, the then Archbishop of Buenos Aires Jorge Bergoglio was elected by his peers in the fifth vote carried out on the second day of the conclave.
