A snake entered a car parked in front of a Government Office in Bhubaneswar in eastern India on March 17.

Getting a call, a volunteer from Snake Helpline, Rajesh Sutar, went to rescue the snake.

Rajesh searched the car thoroughly but was unable to spot the snake. He asked the driver to start the engine and keep it running. After 20 minutes, the snake was forced out of its hiding place by the vibration of the engine.

The snake tried to exit through the space above the wheel but its seven-foot-long body got stuck. Half of the snake was dangling above the tyre and half was inside. Rajesh gently held the snake and eased it out working patiently for nearly 10 minutes.

The nonvenomous snake was later released outside the city in a wild habitat.

Subhendu Mallik, General Secretary of Snake Helpline said "The ventral body scales of the snake make it difficult to pull it out of any hole. We avoided using any force and made sure the snake was not injured in anyway.”
