The recent paroxysms are intense. They usually last an average of an hour, and then suddenly stop.

Etna is one of the world's most active volcano. Its activity is monitored by the Osservatorio Etneo dell'Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e vulcanologia (Ingv-Oe).
