Railway security personnel saves man from getting crushed beneath moving train in eastern India
A major tragedy got averted wherein a youngster almost slipped beneath a moving locomotive in eastern India's Bihar on June 8. The incident took place in Gaya Junction railway station.
CCTV footage features the young man hurrying towards the moving train to board it in daylight. As soon as he steps inside the locomotive, a bag from his hand drops on the platform, following which he loses balance and gets dragged along with the train after sliding down. Upon encountering the unfortunate situation, the railway security personnel rushes towards the frightful man clinging onto the handle of the gate and pulls him to safety before he could fall inside the gap between the platform and the train compartment.
In the life-saving act, the on-duty Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer, identified as Rajendra Kumar Rai, showed his presence of mind and saved the life of a precious young fellow, who ended up missing his step and had almost slid down from the gap between the platform and the train’s moving compartment. Nevertheless, he was awarded Rs. 2500 (USD 34) by Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (DDU) Division for displaying excellent determination.
