Parachuting athlete SURFS on the back of a wingsuit pilot in impressive docking stunt
This insanely impressive stunt shows the moment a parachuting athlete SURFS on the back of a wing suit pilot.
Jenna Gygi is filmed gliding on her parachute before wing suit pilot Julian Barthel flies into frame.
The two perform some incredible aerial acrobatics, which culminates in Jenna landing on Julian, and riding the wing suit pilot like a surfboard.
The XWR stunt, or Extreme Relative Work, involves flying a small, high performance parachute together with the wingsuits.
Jarno Cordia was on location in the skies over Sevilla, Spain, to capture the stunning footage at Skydive Spain at the start of June.
He said: “The parachute jumper exits, and freefalls for a few seconds to get some speed and then deploys. The wingsuits follow out, and then fly in formation, taking various different re-planned grips, and flying together in steep, high speed turns.
“The flying on display is quite unique, with the wingsuit pilot and canopy pilot working together in tight formation.
“The wingsuit pilots are the current world champions in acrobatic wingsuit flying, and some of the highest skilled flyers in the world.
"The canopy pilot is equally experienced, and all participants are full-time coaches teaching and competing in the sport worldwide.
“The manoeuvres done while filming were technically very challenging, but with such amazing views, it makes the flying pure joy!
“The actual teamwork was amazing. Doing something this extreme, yet planned and in such a safe way is like any other athletic sport."
