An Indian groom was forced to cross floodwaters in a boat to get to a ceremony last Thursday (July 15).

On the eve of his wedding in Muzaffarpur in Bihar state, the smartly dressed man had no way of getting across an inundated part of the city to reach an important ceremony so clambered aboard a boat.

Footage showed him pushing the slender craft himself and helping other wedding guests to board.

According to locals, the Akhadaghat area of the city was under 6-8 feet (1.8-2.4 metres) of water in places after a nearby river burst its banks.
