This is the scary moment an escaped raging buffalo rammed terrified drivers waiting at a traffic light.

The four-month-old farm animal was feeding on grass when it was startled by the sound of a car horn in Narathiwat province, southern Thailand on July 21.

It broke out of the fence and made a beeline for the motorists who fled from the scene before the angry animal struck an unattended motorcycle.

Two motorists were injured in the attack before local rescue volunteers arrived to capture the testosterone-fuelled beast.

The buffalo owner’s brother Abdulrahim Wantong, 32, said: ‘We bought this buffalo not long ago and we were planning to sell it. At first, the buffalo looked peaceful, but the next day, it just went wild.

‘He gets easily annoyed and when he is spooked, so he broke the rope I tied it up with and went on a rampage. I would like to apologise for the disturbance my buffalo caused to everybody.’

Villagers tried to capture the animal by cornering it but it was too aggressive and tried to attack them so the rescuers had to shoot it with a tranquiliser gun.

When the animal was sedated, it was returned to the farmers who checked it for injuries who kept it secured in an enclosure.

The farmers also paid the medical costs of the injured motorists and apologised to them for the incident.
