A 4x4 got stuck in soft sand then swallowed by a rising tide on a beach in Kent, southeast England, on Saturday 14 August.

The vehicle was trying to tow a speed boat out of the water at Minster on Sea.

A large crowd of spectators gathered to see the mishap and the repeated rescue attempts, which continued even as the vehicle was submerged.

Footage shows the vehicle stuck in the mud and after the tide had risen around it, with attempts still being made to drive it out even after having been submerged.
