A homeowner in Springville, California, escaped serious injury when his carport collapsed onto his vehicles following a storm.

The security camera footage shows Jay Kelley walking through his carport shortly before the structure crashed down.

Kelley said: "Our town was hit by a colossal storm the day before. Luckily, as soon as I exited my car, I heard some cracking noise and a cat on top of the roof meowing.

"I moved aside to see what was wrong with the cat and at that point, the carport collapsed. I cheated death! Special thanks to the angels on my shoulders.

"A local solar company installed the carport 4 years prior to this incident."

This video was recorded in June 2019 and has amassed over 2.5 million views on TikTok.

'Jay Kelley had a close encounter with death on June 2, 2019, when the roof over his driveway collapsed BARELY MOMENTS after he moved aside and this horrific scene was caught on his home security camera.
