Strong winds cause overloaded ferry to capsize in China killing at least 11

At least 11 people were killed after an overloaded river ferry capsized due to bad weather in southwest China.

Video filmed in the city of Liupanshui in Guizhou Province on September 18 shows rescuers searching for the missing passengers in the river.

A strong rainstorm and heavy rain hit the city on the evening of September 18.

Fifty-seven people were on board exceeding the maximum capacity of 40 people when the ferry was capsized in the river.

Preliminary investigations suggest the ship was blown over by strong winds. Eleven people were killed and five are missing.

Rescue operations and further investigation is underway.
