A deadly cobra was found hiding inside a grocery store in Thailand.

The venomous 1ft-long reptile reportedly entered the place to seek shelter from the storm in Ang Thong province on September 25.

The terrified shop owner discovered the creature when it slithered past the shelves while she was organising their merchandise.

The shop owner Suwaree Daoruang, 34, then called the rescue team for help after fleeing outside and waited until they arrived.

She said: ‘I was shocked when it entered the store. I tried to scare it away with a bottle of water but it hid behind the counters instead.’

Upon arrival, a snake wrangler found it under one of the old shelves and pinned its neck with a rod. The snake tried to resist but it was easily caught due to its size.

The brave female animal rescuer then grabbed its head using bare hands and tucked it safely inside a sack for release.

No one was reported hurt nor damaged in the incident as there were no customers when the snake was found. The shop owner thanked the team before they left with the animal.
