This orphaned albino elephant calf was rescued from a poacher's snare and has been living with a new herd and her best friend, Lammie the sheep.

Khanyisa was rescued in January 2020 from a poacher's trap and taken in by Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development where she has formed a bond with Lammie.

Khanyisa is seen enjoying a stroll in the sun, side by side with her best bud Lammie.

She also loves being given dust baths by her carer.

During her early days at HERD, Khanyisa spent much of her time exploring and learning with her carer friends and companion sheep, Lammie. In this video, she can be seen running back to the orphanage with Reply, Khensani and Lammie.

Khanyisa was adopted by a surrogate mother, Lundi, who has been a wonderful mother to the calf. Lundi does not produce milk, but Khanyisa suckles on her for comfort. She gets a milk bottle from her wonderful carers every three hours.
