Tourists were rescued after Tropical Cyclone Kompasu triggered a landslide that hit the forest hotel in which they were staying in the Philippines.

Footage shows authorities assisting the evacuees after the landslide buried the hotel’s stairway landing in Don Salvador Benedicto Town, Negros Oriental on October 11. Around 20 people were rescued and no one was reported injured, Mayor Marxlen de la Cruz said.

The hotel has been temporarily closed for inspection.

Kompasu, known locally as Maring, is the second cyclone to hit the Philippines this October. It left at least nine dead and 11 others missing due to landslides and flash floods while forcing the evacuations of thousands in the Luzon island.

It is expected to exit the Philippines on Tuesday (October 13) and will head to China’s Hainan province where it will make landfall.
