Mount Aso in Japan's Kumamoto prefecture erupted around Wednesday noon, October 20.

Level 3 volcanic activity alert was raised over Aso City, Takamori town, and Minami-Aso village.

People near the area captured images of the volcano spewing thick, black ash thousands of meters into the sky.

The man on the video can be heard saying "yabai, yabai" which means "this is dangerous!" or "we are in danger!"
