A series of powerful explosions threw debris up into the air at a petrol station in Chikkaballapur, Karnataka.

Footage from October 11 caught the moment the blasts occurred and sent chunks of the surface up into the air.

According to the station's staff, two electrical chambers had exploded due to a technical glitch.

Several employees had a narrow escape when a series of explosions went off at a petrol station in Chikballapur in southern India on October 11.

CCTV cameras at Venkateshwara petrol station filmed at least two powerful explosions throwing up debris several feet in the air.

Though the employees initially thought an earthquake had caused the blasts, a representative of the station said two electrical chambers had exploded due to a technical glitch. “The incident occurred early in the morning and there were no customers or employees in the vicinity. So, luckily none was hurt,” he said.
