The joys of Spring – Cockatoo gymnasts working out on a line of safety flags.
Little Corellas (Cacatua sanguinea) are intelligent, playful Cockatoos. Large flocks are found throughout the suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. They form large, noisy flocks and are often found feeding in large groups on the ground. Little Corellas are playful, swinging on twigs, hanging on with their bills, and hanging upside down. These adult Little Corellas were part of a large flock feeding on the lawn at Herdsman Lake. A few of them joyfully played on a line of safety flags that was erected to keep people away from a tree containing the nest of a pair of aggressive Australian Magpies. The gymnastic Corellas shredded many of the flags with their powerful beaks.
