Video captured the destruction left behind by super typhoon Rai in Khanh Hoa, Vietnam, on Monday (20 December).

Dozens of floating restaurants and homes were destroyed by powerful waves caused by the storm. According to locals, the waves caused the structures out at sea to collide with each other.

Residents said their area had never seen such violent waves.

Super Typhoon Rai did not make landfall directly on the Vietnamese mainland but huge waves created by it caused extensive damage to the South Central Coast.

After the storm passed, more than 50 restaurants in this area were discovered to be destroyed or damaged, and hundreds of fish cages were wrecked.
