English traditional foxhound dogs and hunter horses of "The Four Burrow Hunt" meet for the New Years day drag hunt at the Silver Ball public house St Columb Major Cornwall, UK: Resplendent In traditional hunting livery the Cornish Four Burrow Hunt are greeted by a large crowd of supporters in the small Cornwall town of St Columb Major. The Silver Ball pub provides "stirrup cup" refreshments and Cornish pasties to riders before the days hunt begins. The Master of hunt addresses the crowd. The Foxhounds are controlled by a young man on horseback known as the "Whipper in". Immaculate "Hunter" horses draw great interest. As the law does not now allow Fox hunting, a scent trail is laid for the hounds to follow. However should the hounds pick up the scent of a real fox it is not always possible to control the outcome. Some groups of animal rights activists known as hunt saboteurs are sceptical that the rule of law is always adhered to and attempt to disrupt.. No activists were noticed today.
