Surge Tide in the Thames Estuary off Kent, UK

Neptune Jetty in Sheerness, Kent, UK ended up partially submerged under water this afternoon (January 4) due to a storm surge tide in the Thames Estuary.

The high tide was predicted to reach 6 metres, but due the surge tide it peaked nearly two thirds of a metre higher at 6.77m, as recorded by Southend on sea's tide gauge.
