A female cow was rescued after falling into a 10ft-deep drainage pit.

The cow was feeding on grass when it misstepped on the concrete hole and slipped in Nong Bua Lamphu province, Thailand on January 11.

A farmer who owned it tried pulling out the animal weighing 450kg using a rope but without success so he called the animal rescue team for help.

When the team arrived, they had to fill part of the hole with water so the animal would float upwards and they could pull it easily.

The farmer said: 'I had the land ploughed so straws were covering the mouth of the well. I think the cow didn’t notice it, so it tripped and fell.'

After almost two hours of rescue mission, the cow was successfully retrieved out of the hole. It was not seriously injured aside from a few scratches.
