This is the chaotic moment a wild boar was rescued after getting stuck in a muddy ditch for three days.

The snorting female hog named Chao-Puy wandered into the quagmire used for draining sewage water last week in Samut Prakan province, Thailand.

Half of her body was immersed in mud and because of her weight, she was unable to lift her feet from the sludge.

Locals assumed the filthy 200-kg beast was happy playing in the muck but became worried when she started wheezing while trying to pull herself out of the pit.

Volunteer animal rescuers arrived on March 19 and they climbed into the dirt to tie a rope around Chao-Puy's body but they could not drag her up in case it injured her.

They had to guide the hefty swine to a shallow part of the ditch before using a rope to heave her onto dry land - kicking and squealing like a dirty hog.

After almost two hours, the team successfully rescued Chao-Puy, who was later seen shamelessly sniffing a pheromone-laden male boar that had wandered nearby.

Local rescue official Nattawat said: 'These two animals usually seen around the temple area. Chao-Puy went missing for three days, and villagers found her stuck in the mud so they called for help.'
