Four neighbourhoods of the Indonesian capital Jakarta have been locked down due to Omicron outbreaks.

Footage filmed on Saturday 15 January shows a checkpoint at the entrance to one of these restricted zones.

The areas affected are RW 02, Krukut Village, Taman Sari District, and West Jakarta.

The micro-lockdowns happened after 36 local residents were confirmed to have Covid-19, one of whom had the Omicron variant. The authorities are trying to contact that person's recent contacts.

Based on data from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Health Office, there have been 725 cases of Omicron infection as of Friday 14 January.

Of the 725 infected people, 75 percent -- 545 people -- are imported cases, while 180 are local transmission cases.
