Vast amounts of oil has coated beaches in Peru after Tonga's tsunami caused an oil spill at a refinery near Lima on Saturday 15 January.

Aerial footage filmed over Cavero beach in Peru's Callao region on 20 January showed beaches contaminated by the oil.

It was spilled into the sea when a tanker was offloading its cargo at the refinery, owned by the Repsol oil company, when the tsunami reached Peru.

The company denies it is responsible for the environmental disaster.
