Telford, Shropshire, UK. 29th January 2022. Approximately 500 far-right protesters take part in a demonstration in Telford with English Defence League founder Tommy Robinson in attendance. Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, is to screen a documentary called 'The Rape of Britain' in the Shropshire town. Organisers say the event is taking place to "stand with survivors of grooming gangs," and will feature the screening of a new documentary about child sexual exploitation by Robinson. The protesters marched from Telford Central Railway Station to the Blue Willow Car Park in the town centre, next to Malinsgate Police Station, at 2.30pm. A counter protest also took place organised by the Telford and Shropshire Stand Up To Racism group. Supporters include UNISON Telford, Wolverhampton and Bilston Trades Union Council, Walsall Trades Union Council, BLM Shrewsbury and LGBT+ against Islamophobia.
