A dramatic video has emerged of drivers taking their lives into their hands speeding across a railway crossing as the safety barriers were down near Arras, France.

The footage, shot on Tuesday, shows a series of drivers dodging the barriers as a train approaches - sounding its horn and managing to slow down as it approaches.

According to the filmer, drivers were frustrated by the length of time they were waiting when they decided to risk it.
