A baby girl born as a 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit West Pasaman, Indonesia, is doing well despite the terrifying introduction to the world.

Video shot on Monday 28 February shows the as-yet unnamed girl being carried by her grandmother.

The quake hit in the morning of Pasaman Barat on Friday 25 February, destroying the little girl's parents' home.

When the earthquake struck, one of the units of the Tigo Nagari community health centre was helping a woman about to give birth.

The head of the community health centre, Edi said: "despite the earthquake shaking, we are trying to be professional so the baby girl will come out normally."

"Although in the midst of a little fear if the building collapses, the baby survived," he added.

The baby girl's father, Taufik, expressed his gratitude. "In the midst of the earthquake that destroyed our house, we were also given the grace of a baby who at this time has not been given a name," he said.
