Explosion at Padang City Hospital, Indonesia, 102 Inpatients Transferred

There was an explosion on the first floor of the hospital in Padang City on Tuesday (30/01/2024) afternoon.

It appeared that part of the building on the first floor of the building was heavily damaged, the roof of the first floor had collapsed and the windows were broken. To avoid unwanted things, the hospital immediately evacuated inpatients to all hospitals in Padang City.

The main director of the hospital, Selvi Farisa, said that "all inpatients totaled 102 patients, because the hospital was not operating temporarily, we transferred the patients first to a number of hospitals in the city of Padang.

Meanwhile, after the explosion, the Indonesian police investigated the location of the incident. Padang city police chief, Commissioner of Police Ferry Harahap said "this explosion was not caused by a bomb, this explosion is still being investigated by the team inside, it is suspected that the explosion occurred from the hospital's central AC installation."


The police also confirmed that there were no fatalities in the incident, but approximately 2 people were injured due to being hit by shards of glass. Furthermore, one of the residents who lives not far from the hospital named Tini said "the explosion was very painful, my house is 1 kilometer from the hospital and at first I thought there was a bomb explosion."

Because of this incident, thousands of Padang city residents flocked to the location of the incident to immediately see and confirm the explosion.
