A truck's rubber tyre exploded while the vehicle was transporting more than 12 tonnes of red soil in Thailand.

The six-wheeler was travelling from Chonburi to Chachoengsao province on February 17 when its left rear wheel gave out, shocking motorists who heard the loud sound.

Dashcam footage shows the moment the tyre popped, kicked up dust on the road, and sent bits of rubber flying towards the car behind it. The truck slowed down and stopped on the road shoulder to avoid a deadly collision.

No injuries were reported from the incident.

The truck's driver, 40-year-old Adisorn Taptimsuk, said he was hired by a relative to transport the soil from Chonburi province to fill a plot of land in Chachoengsao province, in an area a little past the accident site.

He said: 'This truck can carry no more than 15 tonnes of cargo. The soil weighs about 12 to 13 tons when I checked at a weighing station at the highway entrance. It was not overloaded.'
