Police detained exiled Tibetans during a protest outside the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi on Thursday (March 10).

The protest marked Tibetan Uprising Day, the anniversary of the March 10, 1959 uprising against Chinese rule that led to the Dalai Lama and other Tibetans going into exile.

Video shows activists shouting slogans, holding placards and running with flags as they are chased by police and detained.

On the 63rd anniversary of the Tibetian National Uprising Day, members of the Tibetian Youth Congress and other Tibetian Students organizations stormed the Chinese embassy in Delhi and tried to reach the gates of the embassy. Around 70 Tibetan Youth protestors stormed the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi to mark the 63rd anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day.

The protestors were raising slogans and were waving Tibetan flags under the banner of the Tibetan Youth Congress. The protesters including women raised slogans against China and tried to reach the embassy in the high-security zone in Chanakyapuri where they were stopped by police. The protestor's face smeared with the colors of the Tibetan flag, slogan-shouting activists painted "Free Tibet".

All the activists were detained outside the Chinese embassy in Delhi after a scuffle broke out between the protestors and the police. The protestors were taken to Mandir Marg police station and later released. They were detained by police and taken away to the nearby police station. The demonstrators were collared by security guards, dragged, and pushed the protestors. Tibetans commemorate the anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising on March 10 by paying tribute to those who "sacrificed" their lives for the "independence" of Tibet.
